WHY DO DOGS HAVE BAD BREATH?

Here’s a question that often comes up.

Why do dogs have bad breath?

Because of plaque, tartar, gingivitis, and bacteria buildup.  That shallow “ditch” between the gums and crown of each tooth is where a lot of bacteria is stored if the teeth are not kept clean.  Periodontal disease, a consequence of gingivitis and tartar build-up, causes gum recession, decay, and very foul breath.  Solution:  brush your dogs’ teeth or have them cleaned by your veterinarian.

Consider:

Þ                   New tartar control additives for drinking water

Þ                   Prescription dental diets that clean teeth every time your dog chews

Þ                   Dental Society approved chew toys (WOOF!)

Interesting question

If you could teach your dog one, and only one command…a command that he would obey at all costs…what would that be?
